Chieftaincy tussle: Mimiko vows not to impose monarch

AKURE—GOVERNOR Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State, has promised that his administration would not impose any unpopular monarch on the people in its bid to resolve the pending chieftaincy crises across the state.

Dr. Mimiko who said this at the coronation of the first Molokun of Atijere, Oba Samuel Adeoye, however expressed the readiness of government to ensure that the chieftaincy tussles were amicably resolved.

He expressed delight that many of the leadership tussles inherited by his administration had been resolved with the people of such communities living in peace.

Speaking through the Commissioner for Environment, Chief Omolebi Adepiti, the governor said government would not shy away from its responsibility as it affects the traditional institution.

According to him, the present administration had resolved to give traditional rulers their rightful place in the scheme of things.
