The United State has assured that it will not interfere in the forthcoming 2011 General election in Nigeria.
The US Deputy Assistant secretary for Africa on public diplomacy, Mr. Bruce Wharton told the management of Private Radio station, Freedom Radio in Kano that his home Country recognizes the Nigerian sovereignty and will not do anything that will compromise the status.
Mr. Bruce Wharton who noted that even though The USA is truly interested in the conduct of the forth coming general election in 2011, reiterated his country’s readiness to offer assistance that will guarantee the process of a genuine, free and fair election.
Bruce, stressed that Nigeria occupied an important position in the American foreign policy, adding tha the position explains their concern for a free and fair poll for desired transformation.
The Deputy Secretary for Africa on Public Diplomacy stated that the US is interested in an outcome of a poll that will be source of pride to International community that will ginger economic development.
Mr. Bruce said that his worries for now are to improve the relationship between the US and Africa, pointing out that ‘along the line I found Kano a very conducive and peaceful state and I can conveniently talk about that and we are impressed’.
