IBADAN—A 55 year-old church, Foursquare Gospel Church, has enjoined other Christian faithful to pray earnestly for the country as we approach the 2011 elections.
General Overseer, Reverend Felix Meduoye, who spoke on behalf of the church, argued that the church as a body needed to perform its spiritual injunction by praying for the nation.
He made this call at the opening ceremony of the 55th annual national convention of the church at Ajebo on Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
While stressing that the church would remain neutral and apolitical, he agreed that the “major thing we needed as a country to move forward was to understand the way of God.”
Rev. Meduoye who was pronounced the new General Overseer by the leadership of the church, admitted that it had not been too smooth for the church but if they can come together as a united entity, they would experience astounding progress.
