13 ex-militants arrested for robbery

ASABA—Nemeses caught up with 13 out of about 100 suspected former militants who allegedly carried out a robbery operation, yesterday, along Otor Udu Road, near Udu Local Government Area of Delta State.

The 13 of them were arrested declared the Delta State Police Command’s spokesman, Mr. Charles Muka.

The incident took place at about 1050 hours, yesterday, morning along Otor Udu Road, near Udu council secretariat.

Muka in a statement in Asaba, yesterday, said, “out of the about 100 miscreants suspected to be former militants 13 were arrested while others escaped. The 13 suspects  have been moved to the state Criminal Investigation Department, CID Asaba  for investigation.”

According to him,  “information was received that armed robbers had blocked Otor Udu Road by Uboko Junction near Udu council secretariat with a trailer and in the process, snatched a Delta State City bus with registration number DT 84B28 at gun point from the driver.

“On receipt of this information, the Divisional Police Officer, DPO,  Charles Nwabuoku in company of a Division patrol team raced to the scene of the crime and the militants on sighting the patrol team, tried to escape with the snatched vehicle, but lost control of the steering and the bus somersaulted,  resulting to the arrest of 13 out of 100 miscreants suspected to be former militants,” he said.
