Former Rangers technical adviser Christian Chukwu has waded into the burning issue between former Rangers assistants coach Sylvanus Okpala and his ex-employers-Rangers.
According to the former Super Eagles coach, it is glaring that the former Green player is being owed by his employer after tending the matter to the court of arbitration. He said the allegation was not false, stressing that Rangers already has been instructed by the panel to pay their employee.
“Before now, this matter has gone to the arbitration and the arbitration has stood on it.
They have written Rangers and Sylvanus Okpala and their decision is well known to both parties. And their decision is that Rangers is owing Okpala and they should pay him before the league kicks_off or they will not be registered. But I’m surprised at what is coming out at all the newspapers in country. It is so embarrassing and humiliating to hear this.
“The Arbitration has taken a decision and also given them a copy of that decision. I do not know why the case should be all over in the national newspapers, and they all have a copy of the decision given by the court of arbitration. Discussing it in the newspapers will not change the arbitration decision.
Of course, Rangers is owing Okpala, they both went to the arbitration court and after hearing both of them the court confirmed that Rangers is owing Okpala and they should pay him before the league starts and every thing was in back and white.
“So why is all over in the pages of newspapers on an issue that have decided. It is a matter that has been decided long ago both the NPL and NFA. So whatever we are saying in the newspaper means nothing.
“The issue is, can Rangers, Okpala denied the fact that they did not go to court of arbitration. Then what we should be asking is, what was the decision of the arbitration? If they denied they are not owing him that would not change anything.
“Even if they want to pay him, they will not pay him direct, because the case went to arbitration and they have taking a stand. The issue is that they have to pay the money throw the arbitration then they will now pay to Okpala. They should not say they are not owing him.
When asked the way forward, Chukwu said the only way out is for Rangers to abide by the decision of the arbitration.
“The way forward is for Rangers to abide by the decision of the arbitration. The decision is that they are owing Okpala and they should pay Okpala that was the decision not my decision,” he concluded
