Investment value on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) Wednesday, appreciated further as the market indicators for measuring the performance indices the capitalisation and the All share index both appreciated by 2.17 per cent each.
In particular, the capitalisation surged by N126.24 billion to close at N5.94 trillion from N5.819 trillion at which it opened, while the index garnered 515.2 bases points to close at N24,263.01 points from 23,747.81 points.
Nigerian Breweries Plc led 36 other stocks on the gainers table with a gain of N3.19 to close at N82.21 per share, Flour Mills Nigeria followed with a gain of N2.00 to close at N60.00 per share and Cadbury Nigeria Plc garnered N1.30 to close at N27.30 per share.
Other share price losers include: Unilever Nigeria Plc N1.11, Ashaka Cement Nigeria Plc 1.05, Dangote Flour Mills plc N0.65, Zenith Bank Plc N0.64, UAC Nigeria Plc N0.57, Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc N0.55, United Bank for Africa Plc N0.49, among others.
On the other hand, Glaxo Smithkline Consumer Plc led on the losers table dropping by N1.18 to close at N22.49 per share, Oando Plc followed with a loss of N0.94 to close at N60.06 per share and Sky bank Nigeria Plc dipped by N0.37 to close at N7.20 per share.
Other share price losers include: Presco Plc N0.30, Eternaoil Plc N0.28, First City Monument Bank N0.27, Nigeria Aviation Handling Company Plc N0.17, Capital Hotel Plc N0.14, Fidson Healthcare Plc N0.10, Afribank Plc 0.07, among others.
Equity trading appreciated 82.32 per cent of the market turnover with 557.70 million shares valued at N5.51 billion in 6,275 deals, in contrast to a turnover of 305.88 million shares valued at N3.63 billion in 4,509 deals.
The Banking sub-sector was the most sought after on the sectorial analysis accounting for 53.69 per cent of the market turnover with 299.44 million shares valued at N2.58 billion in 3,673 deals. Guaranty Trust Bank Plc was the most active on the sectorial analysis trading 49.57 million shares valued at N767.91 million in 574 deals, Diamond Bank Plc followed with the exchange of 39.39 million shares valued at N275.73 million in 84 deals and First Bank of Nigeria Plc recorded 36.33 million shares valued at N440.12 million in 934 deals.
The Food/Beverage and Tobacco sub-sector followed on the sectorial analysis accounting for 20.17 per cent of the market turnover with 115.85 million shares valued at N1.99 million in 550 deals.
Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc dominated activities in the sub-sector trading 105.80 million shares valued at N1.79 million in 152 deals, Tantalizers Plc followed with the exchange of 3.26 million shares valued at N1.80 million in 19 deals and Dangote Flour Mills Plc recorded 2.13 million shares valued N29.29 million in 103 deals.
