Nigeria Paralympics Committee president, Monday Emoghavwe has been locked out of the Games Village and venues of the special sports events as the Nigeria Olympic Committee failed to submit his name for accreditation.
Emoghavwe who is wheelchair bound, now shuttles between his hotel and the Games Village on a visitors’ pass and he laments that this was not the kind of treatment that should be meted to the president of a federation that promised to win Nigeria several gold medals.
“I can’t be at the venues, I can’t attend Paralympics meetings and I can’t even get access to my athletes unless I get a pass, usually prepared 24 hours ahead.
“My name was submitted to the NOC in Nigeria for accreditation. But I do not know how come I don’t have one now.
“It would have been of benefit to the athletes if I’m by their side when competing.
There are certain tips I could give to them, besides some of the officiating officials know people like me very well and there is no way they could give Nigeria unfavorable verdict when I’m there present,” said a disappointed Emoghavwe who is a world record holder and three times Paralympics gold medalist in the power- lifting event.
