By Emmanuel Elebeke
For MTN Nigeria, the Nigeria Golden Jubilee celebration is not just for the privileged few in the society and the able bodied men and women , but also for the forgotten and orphans who were abandoned by their parents by sheer insensitivity of men or by other inevitable circumstances.

This prompted the telecom giant  to sponsor a Golden jubilee funfair organized by “Gens in the Rough” entitled “Celebrating a Milestone and Tomorrow’s Leaders” at recreation park, Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos recently.

The idea was to give the orphans a sense of belonging and to address their fun needs in the spirit of  the nation’s milestone, since they represent the tomorrow’s leaders.

According to MTN, such initiative is a perfect way of  instilling in the children the consciousness and desire of awakening the innate talents in them, which will in turn prepare them for the task of the nation’s  leadership in future. The children went wide in musical performance with different musical presentations

The introduction of the latest sensations of the Gulder Ultimate Gold search, Chidinma and Ochuko, set the stage on fire, as they drilled the celebrants in both dancing competition and intellectual content. Best  performers went  home with some gift items.

In her speech, the General Manager, Corporate Communications, MTN Nigeria, Mrs. Funmi Omobegun said “MTN is proud to support this initiative because we belief that the children are tomorrow’s future and after we realized that planning very is important for children growth, especially at the tender age.

She described the event as a good opportunity to discover who the children are and assist them in developing themselves in line with their individual talents.
