NAHCo partners FAAN on Abuja airport development

The Nigeria Aviation Handling Company Plc is partnering the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, to construct a complex at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport , Abuja, which will comprise a warehouse, administrative offices, maintenance workshop as well as a training school.

The company’s Managing Director, Mr Bates Sule, who disclosed this a Board engagement and roundtable with staff in Abuja, Friday, said the new arrangement was aimed at improving service delivery to the company’s clientele as well as an creating an enabling environment for the staff to actualize their potentials.

According to him, the move is also part of efforts to further reposition and transform the company.
Speaking at the interactive session with the staff, NAHCo’s Chairman, Senator Ike Nwachukwu, assured the workers of the preparedness of the Board and management of the company to ensure best practices in their work regime, pointing out that inefficiency of any sort would not be tolerated under the transformation envisioned for the organization.
According to him, the company is poised to achieve a market leadership and dominance through the delivery of high quality and efficient service to ensure its growth and improved profitability to add value to shareholders’ investments.
NAHCO, he restated, had the vision to diversify its operations, increase its revenue sources, such that by 2012, 30% of the revenue accrual to the company would be derived from such diversifications.

“By that time also, it is envisaged that the company would have established business presence in some African countries thereby becoming the largest aviation and logistics operator in the continent,” he said.

Also speaking at the roundtable, the company’s Vice Chairman, Alhaji Suleiman Yahyah, told the staff that the Board was prepared to equip the company with state-of-the-art equipment to facilitate service delivery and put it in a better stead to compete favourably with other service providers in the industry.

Alhaji Yahyah also said new highly_ automated equipment had been procured to ensure that the company uses cutting edge technology in its processes and service delivery.

He reminded the staff that the management of the company had set zero_tolerance for  mistakes and damage to equipment and client’s assets in the discharge of their duties at all times, adding it had consequently introduced performance_based incentives to reward excellence and exceptional performance.

NAHCO, he said, was desirous of having a highly motivated well_trained workforce and a talent pool.
The interactive sessions were the first in the series engagement activities being put in place for the company staff in zones, and were attended by other top management staff of the company.
