The 2nd quarterly general meeting of Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) ended on a note of optimism ,that the Calabar sea port, and international Airport will boost manufacturing activities in the state if resuscitated.

This view was echoed by NACCIMA President, Dr. Simon Chukwuemeka Okolo. In an address to delegates at the meeting which was hosted by Calabar Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (CALCCIMA)  ,  Okolo said that the speedy reactivation of Calabar Sea Port will go a long way to reduce cargo congestions in the Lagos Sea Ports .

“You cannot attract foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into the country when the infrastructure to support the initiative is not there. A speedy reactivation of the Calabar sea port and proper equipping of the Airport to a befitting real international status will go a long way to open up the state to steady investment and growth as well as ensure flouring of manufacturing and tourism business in the state.”

He noted that the so called Calabar International Airport is only in name as the single runway at the Airport is not sufficient to carry International traffic.Deputy Governor, Barr. Effiok Cobhorn, lauded NACCIMA for the choice of the State for the quarterly general meeting.
