Boko Haram scare in Abuja

The casualty from yesterday’s carnage would have been far more were it not for the measures put in by security agencies after it had been confirmed about a week earlier that some Nigerian militants with a base in South Africa were planning to bomb the venue of the celebration.
Findings indicate that about a week earlier, following tip-off from South Africa, some three white men of the country’s origin had arrived Nigeria to study and coordinate a very effective bombing of the venue.

Fortunately, they were arrested, but their Nigerian collaborators were able to run under.
After interrogation, the men were said to have confirmed that they were working for some Nigerians to attack the venue of the celebration.

Sound security precautions

Two days to the time, all cars not recognised by Nigerian security operatives were not allowed to park near  the venue of the Eagle Square.

Last night, Nigerian anti-bomb squad combed all official vehicles  at the venue including broadcast vans and equipment for bombs.

Also, the entire stands at the Eagle Square were swept for bombs late into the night.

After that, no  car  was allowed close to 200 metres from the venue, no matter  who drove them.
Yesterday, no unaccredited driver drove any of the VIPs into the Square and all the entrance to the Square were blocked off nearly one kilometre from the venue of the event.

Boko Haram scare
Meanwhile the Boko Haram violent Islamic sect are said to be regrouping in Abuja in a bid to violently register their presence.
The sect does not recognise any constituted government; condemns western education, technology and all other cultures and traditions that are not Islam- based. Last year, their leader, Mohammed Yusuf was killed under contrivable circumstances after being arrested by federal authority.
