WARRI — THE lawmaker representing Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr. Daniel Reyenieju, has condemned the recent bomb blasts, during the celebration of Nigeria’s 50th independent anniversary in Abuja.
Speaking to our correspondent at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on his way to Geneva, Reyenieju described those behind the bomb blasts as “supremely evil and devil incarnate, whose hands will eternally be laden with the blood of those innocent persons that they have killed.”
He expressed reservation over what he described as the “lackadaisical and half-hearted manners and methods, with which the different security forces have handled similar situations in the past, such that not a single individual or suspect has been brought before the law,” to answer charges, but instead, the policy of appeasements were always adopted, such that those who perpetuated crimes were appeased instead of being punished according to the law.
The lawmaker said that when similar bomb blasts took place in Warri, Delta State, earlier in the year, instead of dealing with the situation squarely and fishing out those behind the dastardly act, “some public officers played politics with the situation and looking for alibi,” and even going to the extent of blaming officials of the government of Delta State for allegedly provoking militant groups into planting of bombs.
“It is my strong hope that such blame-game of the past would no longer surface, and the relevant security agencies will now be alive to their responsibilities and conduct thorough investigations to unearth those behind both the Warri and Abuja bomb blasts.
“Both incidents should be handled holistically and under no circumstances should the Warri bomb blasts be removed from the investigating radar as such will further exacerbate the already tense atmosphere of suspicions,” he said.
