The South-South Parliamentary Caucus of the House of Representatives yesterday also condemned the bombed attacks.
The Chairman of the Caucus, Hon. Andrew Uchendu, in a telephone chat with Saturday Vanguard, yesterday said the caucus is sad with the development and that there can not be any justifiable excuse for the murder of innocent people.
“No matter what level of frustration that we feel as individuals or as groups over the level of our development since Independence, using violence to express it, is not the right thing to do”, he said.
“This is the time that we should come together and plan to make sure that the next filthy years is spent far better than the last ones”, he said.
“This is not the time to start apportioning blame. This is the time to start working hard. There is no nation that can attain greatness without handwork”, he added.
The Aliyu Mohammed Gusau Presidential Campaign Organisation has described the explosions which killed several people yesterday while the 50th independence anniversary celebrations was going on as a heinous crime which will further damage the image of the country in the eyes of the world. The organisation said there was no justification for the act.
