BENIN—FOUR suspected abductors, allegedly involved in the kidnapping of a popular transporter in Benin, Edo State, have been arrested by a Joint Security Patrol Team.
Vanguard learnt that they were arrested in a camp and over N2 million, said to be part of the ransom money they collected from their victim, was reportedly recovered from them.
It was gathered from a reliable source that as soon as the kidnappers sighted the joint patrol boat, they attempted to escape but were given a hot chase by the patrol team, who overpowered them and arrested four of them while the rest jumped into the river and escaped.
Vanguard also learnt that a foreign engineer, working with Reynolds Construction Company, RCC, Plc, who was earlier, kidnapped, had been set free by the patrol team.
His abductors on sighting the patrol team were said to have abandoned their victim and fled.
When contacted, Edo State Police Command spokesman, Mr. Peter Ogboi, declined comment.
