Halt electricity tariff increase, FG urged

By Festus Ahon

UGHELLI—A non governmental organisation, the Initiative for Better Power Supply, has called on the Federal Government to stay action on the planned increase in electricity tariff in the country. The group in a statement, yesterday by its national Coordinator, Mr Emmanuel Onose and Technical Adviser, Mr Ayembi Agidi, said government should rather concentrate on improving power supply in the country.

According to the group, Nigerians were being impoverished by the epileptic power supply in the country, reiterating that, “steady electricity supply is the mainstay of any nation’s economy.”

Saying that the people depend largely on steady electricity supply to boost their socio-economic lives, the group noted
with concern that companies in the country were winding up due to epileptic power supply.
