Ali Baba and the 40 Gifts is this Sunday

The Independence edition of “Ali Baba and the 40 Gifts”, a music and comedy show, will come  up on Sunday, 26th September at Motherlan’ Ikeja Lagos by 3pm.

The show, which debuted five Sundays back has seen some Nigerians  smiling home with gift items ranging from 21’ TV, gas cooker, home theatre, microwave, generator, industrial fan, and cash prize of N20, 000 in a lucky dip.

Apart from the prizes that were given out, guests are treated to lots of rib-cracking jokes from popular stand-up comedians as well as good music. In previous editions, the  likes of Gbenga Adeyinka, Yaw (Steve Onu), MC Shakara, MC Akapela, Banji the Joke, The Lecturer, Tunde Headnut, (UK), Pasto Goddy Goddy, Olu Maintain, Mc Abbey, Sammy Okposo and many others have added spice to the show.

Asked why he decided to organize the show and present gifts worth more than the ticket prize of N1,000, Alibaba said,  “It is a show that Yaw and I have been conceptualizing since 2007. We’ve been going up and down talking to sponsors.

When sponsors were not forthcoming, we decided to do the show. I bought all the things by myself because God has been blessing me, and Nigerians are good to me.”

He however added that he is unhappy with the corporate bodies.

“I am so angry and shocked every time a promo is being done. Sometimes, I hear corporate bodies say you have to open an account from January to like March or August before they can win items like generator, cars and cash prizes. It is a thing that they can do on daily basis.

Thank God that I have done it without sponsors. I think one thing is that when you have a mind of seeing people living better, do it, even in your small way. If I had sponsors, I would have done more like giving out cars”, Alibaba said.

Alibaba and the 40 Gifts holds every Sunday except the first of the month.
