WARRI – UNKN-WON gunmen, yesterday, abducted the immediate past Vice Chancellor of Delta State University, DELSU, Abraka, Prof. John Okpako Enaohwo.
Hours later, they contacted the chairman of the Ethiope East Local Government Council in Delta State, Mr. Anthony Oboroh, demanding N10 million ransom to free the the professor.
Information at the disposal of Vanguard indicated that the gunmen stormed his Ovu country home in Ethiope East Local Government Area in the early hours of Wednesday.
A source hinted that the former vice chancellor was reportedly returning from a morning mass when he was accosted by the gunmen, who hijacked his car and took him along with them.
Vanguard learnt the alleged criminals abandoned Prof. Enaowho’s car around the Delta Steel Company, DSC, area in Udu Local Government Area of the State.
Information reaching our correspondents at the time of filing this report indicated that the kidnappers had estsblished contact with the Ethiope East Council boss, Hon. Anthony Oboroh, demanding for N10 million ransom.
As at 4, 30 pm, the whereabouts of Prof. Enaohwo remained unknown.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Charles Muka confirmed the kidnap of the former DELSU vice chancellor when contacted by Vanguard, but, said he was yet to get full details from the Divisional Police Officer, in the area.
