UK Bello wins Best Controller award

The Customs Area Controller of the Federal Capital Territory FCT Abuja, Compt Usman Kankara Bello has been honoured as the Best Cusoms Area Controller in Nigeria by the Trans Quest Media Concepts.

The event which also marked the 3rd anniversary of the organization was also used to discuss a theme “Attaining Nigeria’s Transport Industry Developmental Goal in The Year 2020.”

Compt Bello was honoured among other things for his contributions to the growth of the Nigeria’s economy through his revenue generation drive at the FCT. It is on record that the CAC has been able to increased revenue of the FCT Customs command by over 500 percent within a short period of his assumption of office.

In an interview with journalists immediately after receiving the award, Compt Bello said the award has gingered him to do more in the area of revenue generation especially since the country cannot depend solely on revenue from petroleum as the federal government needs a lot of funds to prosecute a lot of projects for benefits of all Nigerians.

“When I came onboard as the CAC of FCT Command, and I realized that the revenue profile was low, I decided to institute a committee to make sure that all revenue loopholes are blocked, and ensure that all duties are paid according to the rules of the Nigeria customs service and that has proved effective”, he said.

He said the officers and men of the FCT command will not relent in their effort to continue to block all loopholes and revenue leakages.

Earlier in a lecture titled “The Global Financial Meltdown; Its Impact on the Nigeria Transport Sector and the way Forward, Mr. Alban Igwe of M&A Resources, London said transportation is a critical aspect of global supply chain and international trade adding that on its own it links business structure worldwide.
