Suspected armed robber meets waterloo

UGHELLI — THE police in Agbarho, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State, Wednesday night, killed one of the suspected armed robbers, laying siege on the Ughelli/Warri Road.

A dependable source told Vanguard in Ughelli that the armed robbers manned a road block by Ekrerhavwen Junction at about 10:00 p.m. to dispossess unsuspecting travellers of their valuables.

The source, who pleaded anonymity, said they ran into the armed robbers on their way from Warri, adding that their driver on sighting the road block made a quick U-turn to the Agbarho police station.
According to her, the Agbarho Police alerted their patrol team after the information to move to the robbery scene, adding “few minutes later, the police team brought a corpse of one of the armed robbery suspects.”
The source added that a victim of the armed robbery gang also rushed to the police station with a serious cut on his head after being dispossessed of his valuables.
The Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Agbarho Police Division could not be reached for comment.

on the matter proved abortive as at press time. However, a senior police officer of the division confirmed the incident and expressed the readiness of the police to combat crime in the area.
