Preparatory to his formal declaration for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  Saturday, Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State, yesterday, visited former president and the party’s Board of Trustees, BoT, chairman, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, in his Abeokuta home, to officially inform him of his intention to rejoin the party.

Orji, who, last Friday, met and secured a date with President Goodluck Jonathan, who promised to be in Umuahia for the governor’s declaration, had also proceeded to Abeokuta to secure the promise of Obasanjo in his capacity as the party’s chairman of the BoT.

Welcoming Orji, Obasanjo expressed joy on his decision to return to the party, saying that PDP would declare “operation total” in Abia State to ensure that no other political party wins any position in the forthcoming general elections in the state.

According to the former president, PDP remains the party to defeat in the state and other parts of Nigeria. He said that he had always hoped that the governor will one day rejoin the party, pointing out that his performance in the state is what has endeared him to the party and the people of Abia State.

He promised to be in Umuahia for Orji’s formal declaration.

Obasanjo also expressed satisfaction with what the governor has been doing in Abia State and his ability to manage the situation which has brought joy to the faces of the people and urged him to continue in his quest to make Abia a good state through delivery of democracy dividends, as well as proper management of the resources for the benefit of the people.
