Man electrocuted in Lekki

LAGOS—A middle- aged man was yesterday electrocuted at Jakande Estate in Lekki area of Lagos.

The deceased, identified as Kola Ikuesun, was reportedly walking down the estate when he stepped on an electricity wire.
Eyewitnesses said the live cable fell off a Power Holding Company Nigeria Plc, PHCN, pole. Fear of being electrocuted prevented sympathisers from giving late Ikuesun first aid treatment.

However, one of the courageous onlookers was said to have used a dried plank on Kola, thereby disengaging him from the live wire. He reportedly breathed his last on the way to the hospital.

Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Frank Mba, said Policemen from Ilesan
Division immediately visited the scene and took the corpse to a mortuary.
