Chairman Editorial Board of Vanguard Media Limited, Ikeddy Isiguzo Thursday urged that the States FA election should hold before the elections into the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Association if the country’s football would be good for it..
Isiguzo, at the Federal House of Representatives Committee on Sports forum that looked into the dismal performance of the Eagles at the recent South Africa 2010 World Cup finals, noted that the country’s football would not be good for it if its foundation was not properly put in place.
“Let the States FA elections hold before that of the NFA holds. If the States FA elections are not held, who’s going to constitute the NFA delegates?
“The States FA in this premise are like a pyramid with broad base on which the NFA stands firmly; if the States FA elections are not held and we go ahead to conduct the NFA elections, the problem we intend to solve would remain and even compound the moreâ€, said Ikeddy Isiguzo.
He also stated that to ensure the States FA elections are held, the hitherto August 21 elections into the Executive Committee into the NFA should be put on the hold.
Isiguzo argued that the world football governing body, Fifa would not quarrel if a congress is called to extend the elections in order to conduct that of the States FA elections.
