Interswitch launches Quickteller payment scheme

Interswitch, Nigeria’s premier electronic transaction switching and payment company, has launched Quickteller, a consolidated payment scheme that offers cardholders convenience and the ability to carry out ATM transactions other than cash withdrawals.

MD/CEO Interswitch, Mr. Mitchell Elegbe, explained that Quickteller platform has been specially deve- loped and designed based on market requirement and the desire is to bring more value to partners and cardholders on the Interswitch network.

“As a dynamic organization, we are evolving an array of services available across the channels on the network in order to enable our cardholders and partners derive better value from their time and money. More services will be developed as need arises. The main objective is to make the Quick Teller platform robust enough to allow it house as many services as possible.”

Also speaking at the launch, Mr. Charles Ifedi, Director, Payment Solutions & Business Expansion, said the Quickteller, which services are available on Interswitch strip and Verve cards, enables the cardholder do lot more than just withdrawing cash from the ATM.

“The Quickteller increases your convenience because it gives you the room to carry an array of transactions on the ATMs, PoS and mobile phones because it does what you do at the banking.
“Different services are airtime recharge, which enables you to top up your phone either with or without a PIN; bills payment at ATMs, web, bank branches and PoS for utilities like DSTV, HiTV, PHCN, Lagos water rates, Zain, etc; and funds transfers.”

He listed the benefits derivable from using Quickteller to include increased convenience as it takes you beyond the 8am to 5pm working hours by giving you the freedom to make payments whenever you want to.

Others are convenience to cardholders, increased revenue to partners, cardholders’ engagement and loyalty schemes, consolidated view of payment reports for cardholders and partners, and improved ROI on existing technology investment for partners. It enables the cardholder view previous payments.

Ifedi further explained that with the introduction of the Quickteller value added service platform, corporate organisations can now provide 24/7 payment access to their customers across all channels and get consolidated reports detailing information on all payments made irrespective of bank branch or the payment channel used, thus increasing revenue and reducing operating costs of the corporate.

“Money transfer services such as bank-to-bank, bank-to-ATM, mobile-to-ATM and inter-bank transfers will soon be activated on the Quickteller platform”, he added.

Assuring cardholders of the security of their transactions, Mr. Akeem Lawal, Director, Payment, Infrastructure and Processing, said Interswitch’s chip technology makes it impossible for fraudsters to gain assess to transactions of cardholders.

“Card scheming is a big problem world-over, prompting us at Interswitch to ensure that transactions are secure and safe.

“One of the security features is the chip technology of the card, which makes it impossible for the card to be cloned.
“Also, the transaction counter on the Verve card makes it impossible for fraudulent transactions to be counted.”
