A chieftain of the People Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Danladi Auyo, has described former military president, Ibrahim Babangida as a PDP asset for capturing the 2011 President election. He said if PDP failed to use him, it will mark the failure and the end of most popular party in Africa.
Alhaji Auyo said that it was injustice for anybody to wake up any day to say zoning in PDP has been laid to rest simply because experienced and benevolent leader like Babangida in the party has joined others in the presidential race for 2011.
He said that zoning has been entrenched in the constitution of the PDP, which according to him, produced various leaders from the South and enabled them to serve their eight years term, with the support of the North.
He also said that the zoning led to the nomination of Late MKO Abiola to contest the fairest election in the country which he won through the support of the North as against his northern opponent Alhaji Tofa of the National Republican Convention, NRC.
He therefore said that it would be an injustice for anybody to say that zoning has been laid to rest when the North had not benefitted from the system which is in the party’s constitution.
He added that Ibrahim Babangida’s second coming would enable him use his experience to wrest the country from various leadership discrepancies and if the PDP fails to allow him perform, “definitely 2011 Presidential election will elude the PDP.â€
