“We are committed to empower them with those skills needed for them to navigate the difficult terrain of life and it is our belief that these little seeds being planted today would go a long way in encouraging these young people to become leaders.”

These were the words of Lola Odedina,  Head, Communications & External Affairs Group of  GTBank, when she spoke at the bank’s Principals Cup Tournament Ambassadors Programme (TAP), a programme which serves as an avenue with which the bank intends to empower and engage youths in Lagos and beyond.

Odedina said that the bank is committed to creating a better future for young people by entrenching those timeless values of hard work , dedication to duty and integrity through which they would be able to surmount all odds presently and in the future.

She went on to say that the bank is also committed to empower the youths with the skill required to face difficult terrain of life, “it is our belief that these little seeds being planted today (day of the TAP) would go a long way i encouraging these young people to become leaders, not only in their schools, but to their families, their local communities and beyond. Leaders, who in the near future , we can all look up to as a community, as a people and as  a nation, the Corporate Communication Head reiterated.

Speaking, Lara Erogbogbo, Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Education advised the children to take advantage of the mentoring  programme to advance their course in life, whilst advising them to desist from vices that could tarnish their reputation in the society, while stressing that the state government is doing every thing possible to see that education attains a given standard in the state.

Mr. Fela Durotoye, Chief Executive Officer, VIP Consulting, a  motivational speaker, said to the youths that they are leaders in disguise, whose leadership quality would some be visible, stressing that every individual has the  potential and capability to  become whatever he or she intend to become  in life.

He pointed that it is not necessarily paramount that every person would become an Engineer, Lawyer or Doctor, but noted that there is something deposited in every person that that individual is not responding to.

Advising further, he said, “make use of the opportunity given to you by your parents. Your future lies in you hand, whatever you do with your hands will tell tomorrow. You are the champion the older generation is looking up to.”
