Govt College Ughelli Old Boys marks 65th anniversary

LAGOS—As part of activities to mark her 65th anniversary, Government College Ughelli Old Boys Association will, Thursday, at the Cinema Hall 1 of the National Arts Theatre, Iganmu in Lagos, host an information Technology (IT) seminar on: Nigeria’s Educational System in the Internet Age.

According to a release by the association’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Cliff Akorah, the one-day event will be aimed at raising the quality of teaching of IT in the country. The release has named IT expert, Mr. Gerald Illukwe, Managing Director of Galaxy Backbone, as Guest Speaker at the event.

The event will be chaired by Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu(Rtd).

The release further stated that the governors of Delta and Lagos states were among invited dignitaries expected to grace the occasion. Also expected are the ministers of Education, Information and Communications, and Science and Technology.

Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, state commissioners, business chief executives, key stakeholders and officers of corporations are also expected to be in attendance.

The event is expected to begin with a pre-seminar exhibition programmed for corporate organisations and  institutions to showcase their products and services.

Government College, Ughelli was founded in 1945 by foremost educationist, late Mr Vaughan Barcham Villiers Powell, whose final resting place is Government College, Ughelli.
