IBADAN—FOLLOWING alleged cold response of Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Baba Bolanta, to numerous calls to arrest suspects that caused mayhem, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State, Senator Lekan Balogun has called on the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ogbonna Onovo to redeploy him to another state.
He said the CP, had failed most of the times to respond to distress calls that he made giving instances where he allegedly refused to take action.
Balogun said, “you can remember that my house was invaded by some hired assassins about six weeks ago. You saw how they perforated my doors and the gates with bullets. They came with the sole aim of killing me on that day, but God protected me from them.
“Can you imagine that up till now the CP has not done any thing about it. Despite the facts that I mentioned the names of the Chairman of the NURTW, Alhaji Lateef Salako and Auxillary as the prime suspects, he did not deem it fit to arrest them let alone prosecuting them, he alleged.â€
But the CP said, “he has policemen guiding his house, he has some attached to him, so where are those threats coming from? He can not sit down in the compound of his house and be remotely controlling the police, he can not do that. If he has any case, he should go to the nearest police station or come and report to me in person.
He can not sit down in his house and be threatening of removing me. He can’t do that, he is not my boss. I will not tolerate him, he is not the one that posted me here. Tell him, I mean it.’’
Senator also stated that the suspects behind the mayhem at the House of Assembly in Oyo state about four weeks ago where four lawmakers were injured with deadly weapons were yet to be quizzed.
The PDP chieftain went further that, “On Wednesday night I received a text message from somebody which stated he was at the NURTW office this afternoon where a notable leader of the union said that he was thirsty of the blood of Lekan ,Balogun and that of his former boss Alhaji Akinsola Tokyo,
He forwarded the message to the CP and the Director of State Security Service, SSS but up till now he had not received any reply from him when the Director of the SSS had promptly acted on the information.
For the alleged failure of the CP to arrest the suspects or quizzed them, he called on the IG to redeploy him so that the culprits would not get away with crimes they had been committing.
Other instances he cited was that the CP did not enforce the declaratory judgment given by the National Industrial Court in Abuja which in favour of Alhaji Lateef Akinsola as Chairman of NURTW in the state.
