Kaduna—The Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, has in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Anthony Sani, condoled the family of Alhaji Abubakar Iro Dan- Musa, former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, who died weekend.
ACF described him as one of the foremost nationalists “who deployed his vision, public intelligence and patriotic courage for common good.â€
The former Minister was also the first National Deputy Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was said to have died in his home state, Katsina after a protracted illness which had taken him to hospitals at home and Egypt.
The deceased was a pioneer member of the G18 and G34 both of which fought against continued military rule during the late General Sani Abacha’s administration before the groups fused with other associations to found the PDP.
PDP BoT war
He was a member of the Board of Trustees, BoT, of the PDP until his name was deleted on the reported instruction of the former leader of the party, late President Umaru Yar’Adua following harsh criticisms by Dan-Musa over Yar’Adua’s nomination as the Presidential flag bearer of the party in 2007.
The former Minister had, while reacting to the nomination of Yar’Adua, said that the former president would not make any impact because “Nigeria is too complicated for him†to govern.
However, Yar’Adua who took exception to the harsh comments from Dan-Musa was later to take his pound of flesh when he reportedly ordered the then National Chairman of the party, Dr. Ahmadu Ali, to remove him as a BoT member and all attempts to restore his name allegedly failed.
