The Managing Director of Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc, Mr. Wale Onaolapo has joined the league of Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN)’s Governing Council.Wale Onaolapo who campaigned and was voted into the council promised to take the insurance profession to an enviable height in the country and enjoined his colleagues to lend their support to his aspiration by casting their votes for him in order to make the dream a reality. In his words, “ the task of taking our noble profession and Institute to an enviable height in the country is an exercise that must be borne by all of us; it is in view of this, that I am offering my services to be part of the team that will make a significant change in charting and sustaining a progressive path for our most cherished Institute.

Onaolapo who has put in more than 30 years of his working life in insurance industry had worked with  Liberty Assurance Company Limited, Ban_Doy Brokers Company, Femi Johnson & Company (Insurance Brokers), Unitrust Insurance Company Limited and International Standard Insurers Limited.

His experience over the years has exposed him to various facets of insurance management, general underwriting; marketing and information technology. He is an extremely versatile and knowledgeable underwriter.
Wale holds a Diploma in journalism from the London School of Journalism.  He is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute of London and Nigeria respectively. He holds an MBA from Lagos State University with special bias in Marketing Management.

He is an Alumnus of the Lagos Business School having successfully completed the Advanced Management Programme, (AMP 12). He left International Standard Insurers Limited in 1994 to join the pioneer management team of Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc. Wale is currently the Alumni President of Set 12 of the Advanced Management Programme of the Lagos Business School. He was one time past Chairman of the Table Tennis Section of the Prestigious Ikoyi Club 1938. Mr. Onaolapo is a thoroughbred community_based personality which is why he has continually been contributing to the development of his home town, Ibadan, as a member of the Jericho Businessmen Club. His contributions to these clubs have been quite phenomenal.

Wale Onaolapo is expected to bring to bear his vast professional experience in the insurance industry in advancing the course of the Professional Body during his tenure as a Governing Council Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, CIIN.
