A 3-man team from the Rivers State Micro Credit Agency has visited Delta State to understudy the Delta Micro Credit Programme.

Leader of the team, Mr. Stanley Urakpo, said they are in Delta State to understudy DMCP due to the programme’s track record in empowering 51,186 persons in just 2 years of existence, and also the testimonies of clients of the Programme on how the scheme has changed their lives.
Urakpo said the Rivers State Government has followed with keen interest the positive impact the Delta State Micro Credit Programme has made on the lives of the people and have come to tap from it.

Responding, the Executive Assistant to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan on Micro Credit, Dr. Antonia Ashiedu, commended the team for the visit.

She said Governor Uduaghan has used the Delta Micro Credit Programme to stimulate economic growth, tackle insecurity and create employment opportunities for Deltans. Above all, the programme is driven by empirical developmental best practices.

Dr. Ashiedu, who took the team through the modus operandi of the Delta Micro Credit Programme, said the state government is pleased that another state in the Niger Delta region intends to embrace Micro Credit.

By this, she said, Governor Uduaghan’s famous statement in Abuja during the CBN 2010 Annual Conference that, “Micro-financing can be a solution to the Niger Delta problem for it could provide sustainable economic growth to improve lives” would come to fruition.

It would be recalled that Imo State Government last year, sent a 3-man delegation also to understudy the DMCP.
