Chairman, Board of Trustees, Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) and Director-General, Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC),Segun Runsewe has appealed to the abductors of the three  journalists to release them with immediate effect. Â
Runsewe, who has campaigned for a change in attitude of Nigerians to the image of the country, warned the kidnappers and their sponsors not to harm the journalists but effect their freedom immediately as a matter of urgency.
The NUJ Board Chairman who is worried by the rising trend of kidnapping in the country urged Nigerian Youths to distance themselves from acts of brigandage and negative vices, noting that the youths cannot and should not tow the part of self destruction.
“Those who are in this negative past-time should let down arms and embrace the part of sanity and let the hard-working journalists go, he advised.”
Runsewe commended the efforts of the security agencies to rid the country of the menace and called on all well-meaning Nigerians to join the anti-kidnaping campaign.
“It is not our signature-tune and we cannot be blackmailed to dance or listen to it. Journalists cannot be targets, so also any other Nigerian. Please let us end this dance of shame,â€Â the NTDC boss stated.
