ENUGU — NATIONAL Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo, announced yesterday that the party would embark on an online registration of members to ensure that all Nigerians willing to join the party did not encounter any hindrance.
Nwodo, who also vowed to resist any attempt by political godfathers to hijack the party for their selfish ends, said he would be ready to die than allow impunity in the affairs of the party.
He declared that the party would witness a revolution under his leadership in order to facilitate the much desired change in the country.
Speaking during a thanksgiving church service at Holy Ghost Cathedral, Enugu, the PDP Chairman said the decision to conduct online registration of members into the party was to ensure a transparent system of registration.
“Every Nigerian willing to join the PDP will be given an opportunity. It is their decision and right to become members. We want to bring about an online registration of membership of PDP. The membership card will be in biometric form showing the member’s face, eyes and thumbprints. The bank account and the designated banks to be used for the registration will be made public,†Nwodo said.
At the church service attended by Governor Sullivan Chime, former Akwa-Ibom State Governor, Obong Victor Attah, former Secretary to Enugu State Government, Dr. Dan Shere, some members of the National Assembly and top PDP members from the South East, Nwodo declared that he would not leave anything to chance in ensuring that the party retained its leading position in the country.
