Panel on Abia Dep gov begins sitting today

 By Anayo Okoli

Umuahia— THE Investigative Panel set up by Abia State Chief Judge,  Justice Sunday Imo,  to  investigate allegations the State House of Assembly levelled against the deputy governor, Comrade Chris Akomas, will begin sitting today in Umuahia.

However, the deputy governor, though in court to stop the impeachment proceedings, has replied to the allegations made against him by the House of Assembly.

In his defence, he denied all the allegations and tendered documents to back it up. He accused the House of already passing a guilty judgment on him even when he had not appeared before the panel as, according to him, the House said he was “guilty of gross misconduct.”

On the allegation of not attending state functions, Akomas maintained that he attended all the functions where he was manifested and that any one he did not attend he got the permission of the governor. He said he even attended some events he was not invited, alleging that in some cases, he was “thoroughly humiliated.”

“At the event (3rd anniversary of their administration), the seat screened by my security details was changed and a whole lot followed. Yet, I never complained to anyone. I will not bore you with the experiences I have had in the past trying to attend events where I was not manifested”.
