Orji picks 10 commissioners

By Anayo Okoli

Umuahia—SMARTING in his new found freedom to exercise his authority as a sitting chief executive, Governor Theodore Orji of
Abia State yesterday sent to State House of Assembly names of 10 commissioner nominees which could be described as people he personally selected.

The governor dissolved his former cabinet two weeks ago in the wake of the face-off between him and his former political party, the Progressive Peoples Alliance, PPA, and former political mentor, Chief Orji Kalu.

Most members of the dissolved cabinet were believed to have been nominated by the former governor and his mother who had been a huge influence in the running of the state in the last 10 years.

This development came on a day Governor Orji also revoked the contract for dualization of the busy Aba-Owerri road, awarded to Zerock Construction Company at a cost of about N2.5 billion. Former governor Orji Kalu is believed to have interest in the company.

The 10 nominees, said to be the first batch are Dr. Nick Eleri, Mrs. Nwada Igwe, Dr. Samuel Ahaiwe, Chief A.B.C.Agbazuere,
Mr. Chukwuemeka Nwaogu and Justine Ezechinyere Ogbonna. Others are Prince Ezekwesiri Ananaba, Mr. Solomon Adaelu, Mr. Reginald Ezenta and Ngozi Ulunwa.
