In line with Unilever Nigeria Plc vitality mission statement, the Omo detergent brand of the company recently presented trophy to winners of the third edition of the Omo Nigeria Primary Schools girl football competition winners at the Media launch of the second phase of the Omo door to door stains challenge.
The competition organized in conjunction with the National Association of Primary School Games and sports Teachers brought together pupils from various Primary Schools across the nation and the Army Children School Shaki, Oyo State won this edition in Abeokuta Ogun state.
Speaking at the presentation, Dominic Kimani, Marketing Director Unilever Nigeria PLC said the one of reasons for sponsoring the competition amongst students in primary schools is because OMO as a brand believes that sporting activities help the children develop holistically by enhancing their concentration which subsequently leads to better problem solving, improved self confidence, improved physical strength and coordination through team work.
He went further to state that children should have active lifestyle since it keeps the whole cardiovascular system healthy by helping the circulation of oxygen and nutrients around the body, removing toxins in the process which ultimately helps to build and maintain strong and healthy bones.
Receiving the trophy on behalf of the state government, Professor Soji Adejunwon, Executive Chairman Oyo state Universal Basic Education Board who represented the Executive Governor of the State, His Excellency Adebayo Alao Akala commended Unilever Plc particularly Omo for partnering with National Association of Primary School Games and Sports Teachers towards encouraging children to be adventurous outdoor.
He said that the dynamics of the environment has changed such that most children stay in-door living a sedentary life style that is not good in the long run but the conscious efforts of Unilever to bring the children out through activities of this nature will help them grow up with a balance approach to life.
