By Festus Ahon
UGHELLI—A Governorship hopeful in Delta State, Chief Ovie Omo-Agege, has charged President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, to use his position as a shepherd of the flock to mobilize Christians towards ensuring credible elections and enthronement of a God fearing leadership in the state in particular and the nation in general in 2011.

Omo-Agege in a statement yesterday, said, “I write to congratulate the President of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, Pastor Oritsejafor, on his well deserved victory as the President of CAN, the apex umbrella body of Christians.

“The election no doubt has brought to fore your exemplary qualities and ardent leadership capacity as a end-time general and prolific author.

The sterling role you played in the aftermath of the sectarian crisis in the Northern part of the country and indeed your invaluable contribution in ensuring peace in the Niger Delta, which culminated in the Federal Government amnesty programme should serve as a reference point to all leaders  both in secular and political field.

“It is my fervent hope that you will use your zeal and leadership experience as a shepherd of the flock to mobilize Christendom to ensure good governance, and credible election, which is the hallmark  of one man, one vote that will eventually enthrone a God fearing leadership in Delta State in particular and the nation in general,” he added.

“The body of Christ and indeed the entire nation expect you to show remarkable wisdom and insight, as well as a heart receptable to truth and justice as God has strategically positioned you to play a key role in this delicate era of our nation.  I have no doubt that you will rise to the challenge to give Christendom a strong sense of security, identity, empathy, purpose and perspective knowing that when the righteous is in power, the people rejoice.

“ I may also use this opportunity to commend our revered Primate of Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Archbishop Nicholas Okoh, who will assist you with other executive members in bringing the much needed direction to Nigeria Christendom.

Once more, congratulations on your well deserved victory; I pray the almighty God in his infinite mercy to guide and guard you throughout your tenure,” he added.
