BENIN—THE Dr Samuel Ogbemudia/ Admiral Mike Akhigbe-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo State, has expressed optimism that the new national chairman of the party, Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo, will wade into the crisis in the state party with a view to finding a lasting solution to the problem.
Addressing members of the faction of the party in Benin City weekend, the factional chairman of the party, Elder Sunny Uyigue, said as the pioneer secretary of the party, Dr Nwodo, knew the problems confronting the party in all the states and therefore, was expected to do the right thing in order to move the party forward.
Uyigue assured supporters of the party that the Dr. Ogbemudia and Admiral Mike Akhigbe-led faction of the party will not hesitate to fight for justice, saying, “we will give our national chairman all the cooperation he needs in order to win Edo State back to the PDP.â€
Speaking also, former Deputy Governor of the state, Reverend Peter Obadan, said members of the party from Edo North had been delivered from the clutches of a national leader of the party from the state, adding “he made Edo North backwards when we were under him.â€
Obadan insisted that Akhigbe was the leader of the party in Edo North, and commended President Goodluck Jonathan for honouring the former military Vice President with the title of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger.
