Ndokwa hosts Uduaghan tomorrow

By Austin Ogwuda
Asaba—THE people of Ndokwa, in Delta State, will tomorrow,  accord the State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel  Uduaghan, a red carpet reception, which they say “is an occasion to appreciate the successes so far recorded by his administration.”

Addressing newsmen in Asaba, a one-time gubernatorial candidate and the chief host, Chief Godwill Obielum said “the grand reception will also be an opportunity for Ndokwa people to interact with the Governor in a relaxed atmosphere on the areas of need for our people, some of which require immediate or short term attention, while others may require long term treatment by government.”

“It is only proper that we use an opportunity such as the grand reception to appeal to the Governor to prevail on multinational oil companies operating on our land for nearly 50 years, especially the operators of the Independent Power Plant, IPP,  to employ Ndokwa citizens and give contract to our people in line with the Federal Government’s quest for community participation.

“The employment of our people will empower them without piling pressure on the state government, which cannot meet all the demands of the people at the same time,” he added.

Chairman of the Planning Committee for the hosting of the Governor, Omordi George Ugbomah in a separate interview said the reception is well deserved because Governor Uduaghan has done very well.

“Uduaghan is interested in the rural and urban areas in his developmental strides particularly the riverine areas, which Ndokwa is benefiting. He has this vision that there must be a link between the hinterland, the riverine areas and urban areas in our developmental strategy,” he added.
