WARRI—THE traditional ruler of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, HRM Ogeh Gbaraun III, in council with former militant leader, Chief Government Ekpemukpolo, a.k.a Tompolo, have successfully resolved the leadership crisis rocking Gbaramatu Youth Council of the Kingdom,  even as he directed that pending court cases on the matter be withdrawn.

The factional crisis which was resolved at a meeting convened by the royal father between the opposition, comprising Sheriff Mulade, Kingsley Oturubo and Apostle Clement Tonfawei and the GYC executive was attended by prominent leaders of the kingdom and members of the Gbaramatu Peace Guardian among others.

It was gathered that the monarch said he did not want the issue to go  further because of his involvement, stressing that within six months, a constitution should be put in place to address the grievance of the opposing group.

Contacted, Oturubo and Mulade confirmed the report, adding that their respect for the monarch and other prominent Ijaw leaders, including former Minister of Police Affairs, Alaowei Broderick Bozimo, who intervened, informed their decision to agree to settle the issue.

Said he, “both parties and our lawyers met and discussed and it was agreed that the Pere appointed the exco of GYC. It was also agreed that the executive council should complete the time frame.”

However,  member of the exco insisted that they were elected and not appointed by the Pere as the Mulade group demanded, saying, “we all agreed that peace should be allowed to reign in Gbaramatu.”

According to Mulade, “We have respect for our traditional ruler and we want to thank him for his timely intervention to uphold the dignity and resolve the youth dispute in Gbaramatu Kingdom.”
