Lagos—Former United States of America Ambassador Walter Carrington (OFR) is 80.

In appreciation of his contribution to the enthronement of democracy in the country, especially in the botched Third Republic following the annulment of the 12 June 1993 presidential polls won by late Chief MKO Abiola, the Lagos State Government will host Carrington on July 24.

The event will take place at the New Eko Expo Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

As part of the ceremony, a new book, A Duty to Speak: Refusing to Remain Silent in a Time of Tyranny, will also be presented.
