FIFA and CAF executive committees member, Dr Amos Adamu has said that he had discovered the source of recent statements insinuating that he was being considered for appointment as special assistant to the president on sports.
Terming the statements as blackmail, Dr Adamu, who is presently leading a CAF delegation to Sudan said neither the said rumour nor the purported reaction by Chief Onyuki Obaseki was true.
The former Director General of the National Sports Commission disclosed that he had discovered that the statements were emanating from the office of the Minister of sports through his special assistant on Media affairs who actually signed the statement quoting chief Obaseki to have condemned any plan to appoint him as special adviser to the president when there was no such thing.
Adamu wondered why the office of the minister should be used for such unsavoury act as it was only capable of rupturing the smooth working relationship he had enjoyed with the minister.
“Can you imagine they went to the extent of quoting Chief Onyuki Obaseki. When I called the chief he swore that he never spoke with anybody on the matter. Of what use is all this?â€
