Rangers International of Enugu have petitioned the Nigeria Football Association over the shifting of their Federation Cup semi final match against Kaduna United from Lagos to Kano.
The Enugu based club said it is poised to abandon the fixture should the Nigeria Football Association insist on the venue of Kano for the Sunday match.
Speaking in a telephone chat, the Chief Executive Officer of Rangers, Uzor Paul Chibuzor confirmed to Sports Vanguard that a protest had already been lodged with the NFA but they were yet to receive a reply from the Glass House.
“It is unfair to us for NFA to fix that match for Kano. Our protest is that Lagos was originally planned for the semi final match and not Kano. Why Kano?†he asked, adding, “from Kaduna to Kano is less than two hours drive, and you can imagine the amount of support our opponents would muster because of the proximity. We would be outnumbered and disadvantagedâ€.
He said the NFA just informed them about the sudden venue change on Tuesday and the club protested almost immediately through courier service and the e-mail. “We passed the protest through our state FA,†Chibuzor affirmed.
