Former Super Eagles player Etim Esin has advised the new league board led by Davidson Owumi on how to make the Nigeria Premier League more attractive for public viewing come next season.
According to him, the need for corporate bodies to take over the sponsorship of the league is very vital. He said, there wa s the need for private bodies to back the league if it must grow,as it will do whole lot of good for the league along side sustain and pave way for maintenance.
On the issues of referees being bought over by home teams, Esin said it should be addressed along side security for both the referees and the players and even the fans.
“We need an attractive league next season , just like it is with the foreign leagues. We need to put so many things aright if we must excel in our plans. Thank God, it is being managed by somebody who is knowledgeable in the game. We need to bring our fans back to watch the league just like it is done abroad. We also need to make it more attractive so that clubs can sell a player for huge amount of money like it is done in Europe.
We need professionall referees who will not be carried away or swayed by home teams with money whenever they are officiating on a home.
“Our pitches also should be put in order. Matches should also be transmitted live so as to reduce corruption. These and many more need to be put in proper shape if we want a full stadia,†he said.
