ABUJA— A faction of the Democratic Peoples Party, DPP, led by Chief Biodun Ogunbiyi as National Chairman, has weekend, dissolved into the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in order to help in actualising the presidential ambition of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011 general elections.
Chief Ogunbiyi who disclosed this during an interactive session with newsmen, said it was the majority of members of party that are dissolving into the ruling party, a situation he said, signalled the death of the DPP.
According to him, “I am sure many of you will be agitated to why we have decided to join forces with PDP to prosecute the 2011 electionsâ€.
“We have observed with keen interest, the steady progress and development of the nation since President Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan mounted the saddle of leadership first as Acting and later President, Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
He said, “call it a stroke of luck, but we believe Jonathan’s coming on board at this point of Nigeria history is for the betterment of Nigeria and a deepened democracyâ€, adding, he and his political party, PDP therefore needs the support and cooperation of all right thinking and patriotic Nigerians in the onerous task.”
