Delta State League draw the Curtains

The grand finale of the 2010 edition of the Delta State  league was over the weekend held amidst pomp and pageantry  at the main bowl of the Oghara Township Stadium.

The football competition tagged “MENE OTUBU LEAGUE” and  exclusively sponsored by Senforce Insurance Brokers, Lagos  was competed for by 50 youth clubs across the State.

It would be recalled that the Delta State FA led by Mr.  Amaju Melvin Pinnick has been in the Vanguard of grassroots  football development through corporate sponsorship in Nigeria. The 8,000 capacity sitting Oghara Stadium witnessed  cultural displays, acrobatics and musical concerts as part  of the programmes to draw the curtains.

In a highly contested final between Aniocha North Strikers  of Issele_Uku and Omas Fc Warri which ended 1-2 (in favour  of Omas Fc), the ceremony enjoyed fair weather.

In a brief remark at the award presentation ceremony, the  Chairman of the Delta State Football Referees Council, Mr.  Dave Egho thanked Senforce Insurance Brokers, for using the  game of football for youth empowerment, curbing of  restiveness and character-moulding for the common good of  the society.

The Chairman and Secretary of the Delta State FA, Messrs  Amaju Melvin Pinnick and Onothoja Friday who were on an   official assignment in London when the finals were held,  called   to express their delight and confidence in  the Managing Director of Senforce Insurance, Mr. Dere Otubu,  who have been a worthy partner and financier of the game of  football for several years.

The State League champions had since arrived their Umuahia  group centre for the National Division 3 play offs of the  Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
