DBI, Harvard, GIT, hold symposium on ICT

With a focus on the 2011 elections and beyond an International consortium consisting of the Digital Bridge Institute, Harvard University, Georgia Institute of Technology and the National Democratic Institute on Monday held a symposium on the  topic  “ICT & Civic Engagement in Nigeria:” in  Abuja.

The outcome of the symposium is expected to set the tone for the 2011 general elections.
The conference convened NGO leaders, donors, academics and practitioners working at the intersections of ICT and participation to explore creative and effective uses of new media around the elections and in other ongoing forms of civic engagement.

According to the organizers of the event, the event considered how ICT can enhance the effectiveness of civic participation in pre and post election exercise and monitoring as well as the wider Nigerian Democratic Process.
