‘North can’t intimidate Jonathan’

The agitation by some northern elites for President Goodluck Jonathan not to contest for presidency come 2011 is generating ripples as  South South Northern Alliance (SSNA) says there is no vacancy in Aso Rock till 2015.

The group stated in a statement  by Frederick Igere, President and Stanley Garry, Publicity Secretary,  that Mr. President should not be intimidated by the agitations of some northern oligarchies.

The statement reads, “Some of the northerners should not use the name of the north or its numerical strength to intimidate or browbeat President Goodluck Jonathan not to declare his intention to run for the presidency come 2011. “SSNA knows that the Middle Belt will not support some of the northerners who are agitating because we have resolved to support President Jonathan to bring political relevance and economic emancipation to the people of Nigeria . Our alliance has neutralized the weight of the power brokers in the core north because their followers have realized their intrigues of use and dump and have decided to follow the part of SSNA”.

The pro-Jonathan  group  inaugurated to promote the interest of  young politicians  of the south south and the  north held that there is no vacancy in Aso Rock till 2015, saying  northerners alone do not have the monopoly of political power to arrogate to themselves the zoning formula.
