Supporters club boss calls for new Eagles

By Tony Ubani, in South Africa
President General of the Nigerian Supporters Club, Dr Rafiu Ladipo is still fuming after the disgraceful exit of the Eagles at the on-going World Cup in South Africa.

Ladipo had berated the Eagles after their loss to Argentina when many people praised them and said instead that football was all about victory.

Now, the man soaks all the freezing weather supporting the team is calling for a new team if Nigeria must continue to hold Africa’s light in football.

“We cannot continue like this”, he charged when the Eagles frittered many chances that would have catapulted them to the second round of the World Cup after Argentina had done them the favour of beating Greece 2-0. “The players have shown that most of them have come to the end of the road. Their attitude over time confirms that Nigeria must look round to overhaul the team to be able to get the best.

“There are so many players yearning to play for their fatherland. We cannot be stuck withsome players who think that they are doing us a favour playing. There is no unity in the team, again.

And we need to move forward by looking for disciplined players who would value the green, white, green colours of  Nigeria”, Ladipo said.Ladipo said that the current team was perhaps the worst team he has seen of the Eagles.
