Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc has spread financial support to Lagos State Sports Council and the football supporters’ club.

The insurance company was represented by Mr. Segun Bankole, Head of the Corporate Communications/Brand Management at the sport council secretariat in Yaba, Lagos.

Bankole said that  Sovereign Trust Insurance is totally committed to contributing its own quota to the development agenda of the State Government.

He said the organisation has identified Sport as a unifying element in the State and Nigeria at large; hence the need to give it all the support and encouragement it requires to thrive.

“We will continually give our support to the development of Sports in Nigeria as we have observed that it is the common language that every Nigerian understands without any interpretation from any quarter. Our Nation is blessed with tremendous Human Resources that have the capability of attaining glorious heights in any chosen field of Human endeavour.

He further stated that,” The support of a very active and formidable followership is critical to the success of any Sports Association, which is why we have decided to encourage the Lagos State Football Supporters’ Club and other Sports Associations in the State. We are also aware that the State Government is equally committed to the development of Sports as occasioned with the rehabilitation and construction of sporting facilities throughout the State in recent times.

On his part, Mr. Olumide Ajiga, Representative of the Lagos State Football Supporters’ Club in appreciation to the kind gesture of the insurer said, “we have approached many organisations in the State for their support towards the Launch of our Theme Song for the Lagos State Football Supporters’ Club and other Sports Associations without any commitment from their end but your organisation did attend our Launch and here you are today, making good your promise with this donation.

We are utterly grateful for this awesome gesture”. Where others have hesitated, you have genuinely acted and proven that you are committed to our Cause. “We will ensure that this partnership evolve into a mutually beneficial relationship in all ramifications”.

In 2007, the company was the Official Insurer for Team Nigeria at the All African Games in Algeria. In 2008, the organisation sponsored some Nigerians on an all expense Paid trip to Accra, Ghana to watch live matches of the African Cup of Nations.

Till date, the company still sponsors the Dr. E.I.P Ebosie Foundation Age_Group Swimming competition in conjunction with the Nigerian Swimming Confederation. At the Grassroots level, Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc has a working partnership with the Avengers Football Academy in identifying Soccer Talents and developing them towards attaining national glory.
