ABUJAâ€”The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Thursday, grilled former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Mines and Power, Mr.Â S.M.Mahmood and two others over the alleged 17.5million Euros SiemensÂ bribe scandal.
Sources close to the commission told Vanguard that apart from the former Permanent Secretary, Mr. O.C. Ossai, a former General Manager of NITEL and Mr. Allah Bamulafiyah, a director of NITEL, were interrogated by the operatives of the anti-graft agency.
By 1p.m. yesterday, Mahmood, who could not be grilled on Wednesday, was still being interrogated while the other two waited for their turn.
So far, the commission has interrogated nine persons in connection with the Siemens bribe scandal; two former ministers and former directors including serving directors have been questioned on their roles in the scam.
Fielding questions from newsmen on Wednesday, the Chairman of the commission, Mrs. Farida Waziri, said by next week, Siemens top executives in Germany will arrive the country to explain their roles. Executives of Siemens Nigeria are also to be grilled.
It would be recalled that recently two managers of AG Siemens in Germany were convicted over the Siemens bribe scandal; this development opened a new vista in the investigation of the scam.
